Investec Asset Management has named Michael Spinks as co-manager of the £80.4 million Investec Diversified Growth fund, which has been headed up by Philip Saunders since the end of 2006.

Spinks joined Investec in August 2012 as co-head of the global multi-asset team which oversees US$17.9 billion (£11.6 billion) in assets.

The £80.4 million fund invests in a range of global assets including equities, fixed interest instruments, cash and commodities. It also invests in alternative assets, but only Ucits funds will be considered.

Prior to joining Investec, Spinks has worked at Schroder’s for eight years, most recently as manager of the £4.5 billion Diversified Growth fund and a member of the global asset allocation committee. He also worked as a portfolio manager with Schroder’s multi-asset investment division.

Spinks will continue to head the UK-based multi-asset capability alongside Philip Saunders, global head of multi-asset investments.
