Italian lender Intesa Sanpaolo is looking to boost its private banking, asset management and insurance businesses, including through acquisitions, the bank’s CEO told newspaper Corriere della Serain an interview.
Messina added that it is keen to expand presence in countries including UK, the US and Switzerland, as well as in Asia.

Messina, when asked about the bank’s interest in buying Coutts International, said it was a very interesting asset but that RBS was reluctant to sell it, Reuters reported citing the daily’s report.
"On the other hand we’re not ready to pay any price," he was quoted as saying.
The newspaper reported Messina saying that Intesa would not likely acquire other banks or even branches in Italy.
He also ruled out that the bank could be interested in cross-border deals such as acquiring a stake in Commerzbank that the German government may consider selling following completion of the restructuring of the lender in 2016.
