HSBC Private Bank has named Henry Lee as global head of alternative investment group, alongside his current role as global head of discretionary.
Lee, in the new role, will replace Peter Rigg who is departing from HSBC.

Lee will be tasked with growing the bank’s alternatives business and embedding the alternatives product portfolio- including hedge funds, real estate and private equity- into the core offering available to HSBC Private Bank clients.
The asset class heads within the alternative investment group will report to Lee. This includes head of research Heath Davies, head of portfolio management Simon Garfield, head of private equity Simon Jennings, and head of real estate Paul Forshaw.
Earlier, Lee served as managing director, regional head of GPB mutual funds and discretionary and head of the Alternative Investment Group (AIG) in Asia. He also managed the Asia Pacific discretionary platform.
Before coming to Asia, Lee held the position of head of portfolio management for HSBC Alternative Investment (HAIL) in the UK.

By GlobalDataBefore joining HAIL in 2012, he led the Alternative Investment team for HSBC Private Bank UK since 2007 and managed discretionary mandates and advisory relationships for the bank.
Prior to joining the team in London, he served at HSBC Private Bank’s alternative investment team in Hong Kong, managing advisory mandates and was an active member of the Asian Hedge Fund Portfolio Investment Committee.
Lee also had a stint at Credit Agricole Asia Asset Management in Hong Kong Prior to joining HSBC.
