HSBC Global Asset Management (HSBC GAM) has appointed Mary Bowers as senior global high yield fund manager of its global fixed income team.
In her new role, Bowers will be responsible for managing HSBC’s US$1.1 billion GIF Global High Yield Bond fund and its recently launched US$20 million GIF Global Short Duration HY Bond fund.

Based in New York, Bowers will report to Xavier Baraton, global CIO of fixed income at HSBC Global Asset Management.
Bowers has joined the firm from Artio Global Investors, which was acquired by Aberdeen Asset Management in February this year, where she previously co-managed US$4 billion in high yield assets.
Baraton said: "Bowers hire reflects a strengthening of HSBC Global Asset Management’s US and global high yield resources based in New York, and very much complements our existing high yield capabilities in the US, Paris and Hong Kong."
