HSBC Global Asset Management (HSBC GAM) has hired Stephen Tong to its global equity team.

In his new role, Tong will be responsible for the firm’s global equity capabilities.

Tong has joined HSBC from Vontobel Asset Management, where he served a managing director and head of emerging market portfolio management.

Prior to this, Tong also worked at as a strategy consultant at advisory group Bain & Company and at AllianceBernstein managing both Japanese equity and global thematics.

Additionally, HSBC GAM has also hired Nacho Font from DIAM International to represent the firm’s smart beta investment offerings to internal and external clients.

Meantime, the firm has appointed Emmanuelle Harboun and Yasmina Slimani to its UK-based products team and Apiramy Jeyarajah as senior product development manager to develop its passive investment product range.
