HSBC Global Asset Management (HSBC GAM) has appointed Simon Ellis to the new newly-created role of global head of client segments.

Prior to joining HSBC GAM, Ellis worked as managing director for Legal & General Investments until January 2013, which he joined in October 2009.

In his new job, Ellis will be accountable for the development of different parts of HSBC GAM’s client base, including pension scheme clients and sovereign wealth funds.

He has also held management positions at Fidelity, Axa Investment Managers and Henderson.

HSBC GAM was quoted by fundweb.co.uk as saying that Ellis will be supported by a small team and work closely with sales, product, client propositions and operations.

The publication quoted an internal note of HSBC GAM as saying, "This newly created role is about further developing our proposition for key client segments and ensuring the offering is deliverable and well-targeted."
