HSBC has named Victor Matarranz as head of International Wealth and Premier Banking (IWPB) for the Americas and Europe, with the role starting on 1 October 2025.
Matarranz moves from Banco Santander, where he spent 13 years in senior posts in Madrid and London, most recently as Global CEO of Wealth Management and Insurance.

In that capacity he had responsibility for private banking, insurance and asset management in markets largely across the Americas and Europe and led strategic and M&A initiatives as group head of strategy.
Earlier in his career he was a partner at McKinsey & Company, working with banks in the Americas and Europe on distribution, digitalisation and business development
In this role, Matarranz will oversee the bank’s wealth operations in jurisdictions including the US, Mexico, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man, and will focus on developing activities across major international corridors.
Matarranz will relocate from Madrid to London and will sit on the Global IWPB Operating Committee.

Earlier this month, SBC Private Bank launched Wealth Intelligence, an AI-driven platform for client-facing teams, investment advisers and product specialists to support market analysis and tailored investment advice.
The platform was created in-house and leverages a large language model from OpenAI.
