HSBC has appointed Simon Robertson, senior independent non-executive director and deputy chairman, as its new chairman of the remuneration committee.
Robertson, a former Goldman Sachs banker and chairman of Rolls-Royce, will succeed John Thornton, who was chairman of its remuneration committee and its North America business since 2008.

HSBC said, Joachim Faber, another HSBC non-executive director, would take over as chairman of its risk committee, replacing Rona Fairhead, effective immediately.
