Hedge fund investor HSBC Alternative Investments (HAIL) has named William Benjamin as its new global head of hedge funds.
Benjamin, who will be based in London, will oversee portfolio management, research, and the ongoing monitoring of approved universe of hedge funds at HSBC.

He will report to HSBC Private Bank global head of alternatives Henry Lee in the new role.
Benjamin most recently worked at Goldman Sachs Alternative Investments, where he managed the firm’s Alternatives Advisory platform and its UCITS alternatives fund.
Before that, he served as global head of research for HAIL and worked at HSBC since 2001. His career also includes a spell as a fund manager at Argyll Investment Management in London.
