Hermes Investment Management has recruited Carl Short as the new director of engagement in its shareholder advisory firm Hermes EOS.

Short will lead the implementation of Hermes EOS’ global engagement and voting services programme by the engagement team.

The team engaged with 466 companies on 1,150 environmental, social and ethical, governance, strategy and risk issues and objectives last year.

Short will be based in the firm’s London office, and will report to Hermes EOS co-head Hans-Christoph Hirt in the new role.

Short has an experience of more than 25 years in the equities market, and previously served at various banks and research providers such as Standard & Poor’s Equity Research, Societe Generale, Nomura and Kleinwort Benson.
