Henderson Group Plc, an investment management services company, has appointed former JP Morgan Asset Management’s global chief operating officer of investment management, Roger Thompson, as its new chief financial officer.

Thompson will replace Shirley Garrood, the firm’s chief financial officer and director, who will be stepping down in July and retiring from the group in March 2014.

Thompson’s appointment as CFO and director of Henderson is expected to become effective on 1 July, subject to regulatory approval from the FCA.

Prior to this role Thompson was head of JPM AM’s UK franchise and he had worked at the company for 19 years in a broad range of roles.

Henderson Group chairman, Rupert Pennant-Rea, said: " Garrood will remain with the Group through to March next year enabling a seamless transition as well as overseeing the completion of a number of projects the Group is working on."
