Pharo Management, a $4.8bn emerging markets hedge fund, has expanded its Hong Kong team by recruiting staff from Goldman and Mizuho.
The new hires namely Amit Bansal and Jack Lai have joined Pharo as portfolio manager and trader respectively, Asian Investor reported.

Prior to joining Pharo, Bansal worked as a managing director on Goldman Sachs’ Asia macro trading desk.
Lai joined Pharo from Mizuho, where he served as vice president working in interest rate derivatives trading. Prior to this, he worked in FX sales trading at Citi from June 2011 to March 2013.
Stanley Chan has joined Pharo’s Hong Kong office last year alongside Lai. Chan also has experience trading Asia foreign exchange and interest rate products at Citi.
The flagship Pharo Macro Fund has recorded high double-digit annualised returns in its first five years from the time of its launch in May 2005, but returns have since moderated to low double digits.
