Hargreaves Lansdown has added Richard Buxton’s Old Mutual UK Alpha fund to the Wealth 150 list of its favourite funds across the major sectors and has been made widely available to retail investors.
Buxton had been running the fund, which was previously called Old Mutual Equity 3, before his move from Schroders, but the manager officially joined Old Mutual last week to manage the fund.

The fund performed superbly over the course of Buxton’s tenure, delivering growth of 242.5%, compared to 118.5% for the sector average. The fund was on the Wealth 150 until Richard Buxton’s departure from Schroders was announced.
Hargreaves Lansdown head of research Mark Dampier said: "In our view Richard Buxton is a talented manager with an exceptional track record. He plans to manage the Old Mutual UK Alpha fund in exactly the same way as he managed his previous fund.
"At Old Mutual he is supported by a well-resourced team and is well incentivised to perform. This gives us every confidence in Richard Buxton and his team," Dampier said.
Buxton’s previous fund – Schroder UK Alpha Plus – was removed from the Wealth 150 after the manager’s departure.
