GoldenTree Asset Management, an investment firm that manages alternative and traditional asset strategies for institutional and high net-worth investors, has hired James Clarke as managing director of business development.

Clarke will be based at GoldenTree’s New York City headquarters and will report to Thomas Humphrey, partner and head of business development.

Prior to joining GoldenTree, Clarke was a senior vice president in business development for Paulson and Co, where he was responsible for covering large institutional investors including public and corporate pensions, and foundations and endowments in the US, Canada and Australia.

Clarke has also spent 12 years with PIMCO as a senior vice president and head of public plan new business development. While at PIMCO he was integral to the firm’s rapid expansion with public pension plans and consultant relationships.
