Munich prosecutors have filed criminal charges against Deutsche Bank`s co-CEO Juergen Fitschen with attempted fraud linked to the bank’s legal case involving the bankrupt Kirch media group.
The prosecutors also indicted the former chief executives of Deutsche Bank, Rolf Breuer and Josef Ackermann, as well as former executives Clemens Boersig and Tessen von Heydebreck, German newspaper Sueddeutsche Zeitung reported citing sources in the Munich public prosecutor’s office.

The executives are accused of lying to judges in one of the suits brought by the late media magnate Leo Kirch against the bank in a long-running legal battle.
Reacting to the media report, Deutsche Bank said it had received no written notice of the prosecutor’s decision.
Leo Kirch, who died in 2011, held Deutsche Bank directly responsible for his group’s demise in 2002 when the bank`s then CEO, Breuer, public questioned the group`s creditworthiness in a television interview.
In February, Deutsche Bank announced it would pay nearly EUR1 billion to settle the case.
