Swiss asset manager GAM has appointed managing director for finance at Henderson Group Richard McNamara as its new group CFO.

In the new role, McNamara will replace Marco Suter, who will step down as group CFO and from the group management board by the end of 2015.
Suter joined GAM in June 2010 and assumed the role of group CFO in January 2013.
McNmara is slated to join GAM and its group management board during this year’s second half, subject to customary approval by Swiss supervisor Finma.
He will however, remain with the firm as its senior advisor in order to assist McNamara during transition and support the company’s CEO and senior management in strategic projects.

He joined the firm in 2009 in the role of group finance head, managing the finance’s and financial operations of the firm including its M&A activity.
He assumed a new responsibility at Henderson in December 2013 for finance and treasury, tax, investor relations, facilities and procurement.
Before working at Henderson, he also served stints in senior finance roles at Western Asset Management, Legg Mason and Citigroup Asset Management, having begun his career at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
