Van der Spuy said that the new firm is in talks with firms to sign 20 or 25 deals in countries such as Senegal, South Africa and Sierra Leone.
"We believe we can use financial structuring techniques to help African companies access the right type of capital," he added.
Additionally, Alkebulan has teamed up with consultancy africapractice, which opened in September and has offices in six African countries and is also partnering with firms such as Barclays Plc’s African unit, Citigroup, and Standard Chartered in a move to tap the African growth rates.
As part of the move, Alkebulan is planning to hire another four people and have some staff based in Africa by the end of this year.
