Barclays’ four former Asia-based investment bankers are set to launch a new cross-border advisory firm, Reuters reported citing undisclosed sources.
The bankers, who departed last year, include Ed King, Johan Leven, Helge Weiner-Trapness and Peter Ding.

The new firm will focus on advising companies on cross-border deals, and is expected to be operational in the next couple of months and add more staff in that period, the report said.
Each of the four bankers has nearly 25 years of investment banking experience. They exited Barclays’ Hong Kong hub in the middle of last year following chief executive Antony Jenkins announcement to axe 7,000 jobs worldwide as part of a cutting drive.
Before joining Barclays, King headed Asian mergers and acquisitions practice at Morgan Stanley, and was succeeded by Ding.
Leven served as head of corporate finance for Asia-Pacific, while Weiner-Trapness ran the financial institutions group. The duo earlier served at Goldman Sachs.
