First Republic Bank, a US-based private bank and wealth management firm, has appointed Gaye Erkan as new senior vice president, chief investment officer and co-chief risk officer, effective from June 2014.

Based in New York, Erkan will report to chairman and CEO Jim Herbert.

In her new role, Erkan will lead the investment portfolio of First Republic. In addition, she will also oversee the enterprise risk management function as co-CRO.

Prior to joining First Republic Bank, Erkan worked at Goldman Sachs since 2005, most recently serving as managing director and head of financial institutions group strats in the investment banking division.

Erkan has expertise in quantitative risk modeling, stress testing and balance sheet optimization for financial services companies.

Herbert said: "Gaye is an exceptional risk and investment professional. Her addition to our already strong team of senior executives is an important step in further building our leadership depth."
