Swiss financial markets supervisor Finma has named Rupert Schaefer as its new board member in charge of the strategic services unit.

Schaefer will take over his new role from next January, replacing Nina Arquint.
He joined Finma in 2010, and presently leads the international affairs section of the firm since last year.
Arquint has worked for the Federal Insurance Office (FIO) and FINMA for 12 years, and is set to take over a new position in the financial sector in next July.
Starting her career in the legal department of FIO, Arquint has led Finma’s general secretariat since 2009 and has been a member of Finma’s board since 2013.
