F&C Investments has hired Howard Pearce as new chairperson of its new responsible investment advisory council, effective 1 January 2015.

In his new role, Pearce will focus on providing advice on ethical and sustainability criteria.
The company confirmed a re-launch of its Responsible Investment capability in June this year, which includes a range of funds, from ethically-screened UK and global equity offerings to thematic funds, screened fixed income and sustainability-orientated emerging market equities.
F&C said that the fund range will be assisted by its new and independent Responsible Investment Advisory Council.
Prior to joining F&C, Pearce served as head of Pension Fund Management for the Environment Agency Pension Fund (EAPF) and a member and principal advisor to its Pensions Committee from 2003 to 2013.

The council will consist of experts across responsible investment, environmental, social and governance issues. Howard Pearce said: "My aim will be to maintain the high level of integrity under which the responsible investment funds have operated for the last 30 years and to ensure they are at the cutting edge of emerging environment, social and governance issues."
