Ex-Ivy Funds portfolio manager Ryan Caldwell has established an investment management firm, called Chiron Investment Management, which is backed by GPS Investment Partners.
Chiron seeks to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns for its investors using a behavioral and empirical approach to security selection and asset allocation across asset classes and geographies.

The new firm, which will have offices in Mission Woods, Kansas and New York City, employs an empirically driven process of security selection with a flexible mandate for asset allocation to achieve portfolio growth while minimizing downside risk.
Caldwell will become Chiron’s chief investment officer, while GPS founders, Marc Spilker will serve as chairman, Enrico Gaglioti as CEO and Scott Prince as vice chairman.
The new venture has also hired Kirsten Pickens, Ivy Funds’ former head of national accounts and retirement sales, as a partner and head of distribution.
Caldwell previously worked with Waddell & Reed, including serving as co-portfolio manager of the Ivy Asset Strategy and Waddell & Reed Asset Strategy funds.
