Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management has appointed Munish Varma to a newly created role of head of structured solutions within its Loans & Deposits group.

A managing director, Varma will be based in London and report to Balaji Prasanna, head of lending, deposit products & wealth planning solutions.

In his new role, Varma will be responsible for delivering customised financing solutions across the capital structure for the German bank’s clients globally, including strategic lending solutions.

He will also be responsible for developing new products, the bank said in a statement.

Most recently, Varma was global head of structured credit at Nomura. Prior to that, he spent more than a decade in Deutsche Bank’s global markets division in various roles.

Commenting on his appointment, Prasanna, said: "Lending is a key part of the service we offer clients. We will continue to develop new products and solutions to help them access liquidity and take immediate advantage of opportunities whenever they arise."
