Deutsche Asset & Wealth Management (DeAWM) has appointed Martin Weithofer as managing director and head of smart beta within the Passive Asset Management division.
Based in Frankfurt, Weithofer will report to Reinhard Bellet, global head of Passive Asset Management.

Weithofer joins DeAWM from Assenagon Asset Management, where he served as managing director at Assenagon Client Service GmbH, and at Assenagon GmbH, with responsibility for managing distribution of investment management and risk management services, and distribution of enhanced beta investment products.
Previously, he spent ten years at HVB/Unicredit Bank AG Munich, where he held roles in structured retail product sales in Germany and Austria, in product development of certificates and bonds, and in product development of structured funds, latterly being appointed Head of Structured Investment Solutions.
Bellet said: "The development of smart beta passive solutions and products is very much a natural evolution of the passive asset management business, and it is an area that is certainly attracting the attention of investors. Weithofer will be the architect of this, using our sophisticated product development and sales expertise to take a lead in this rapidly growing area."
