Credit Suisse (Switzerland) has appointed Andreas Gerber, who currently heads SME Business Switzerland, to lead the corporate banking business.

Gerber replaces Didier Denat, who plans to pursue a new opportunity.

Gerber will assume the new responsibility on 1 January 2021. Besides, he will join the executive board of Credit Suisse (Switzerland) and the management committee of Swiss Universal Bank.

Gerber has been the head of SME Business Switzerland since April 2015.

Since September 2017, he has chaired the Swiss Venture Club (SVC), a network of SMEs in Switzerland.

With over three decades of experience at Credit Suisse, Gerber has served several positions in corporate banking. He has been working at the bank since 1989.

At Credit Suisse, he has been responsible for advising listed large corporates, managing the corporate banking business in Region Mittelland, and spearheading the corporate banking arm in Region Zurich/Schaffhausen.

Commenting on the appointment of Gerber, Helfenstein added: “Andreas Gerber, the new Head of Corporate Banking, is an expert with outstanding knowledge of the Swiss corporate landscape. Together with his team, he will make a decisive contribution to growing the business and further strengthening our position as the Bank for Entrepreneurs.”

Last week, the board of directors at Credit Suisse elected Antonio Horta-Osorio as its new chairman of the board.

In September this year, Credit Suisse (Switzerland) appointed Martin Mende as the new head of the Strategy & Initiatives area, replacing Daniel Hunziker.
