Swiss banking giant Credit Suisse has named Helman Sitohang as new CEO of its Asia Pacific division.

Sitohang will succeed Eric Varvel in his new role, with the latter now being designated as chairman for Asia Pacific and the Middle East Regions where he will primarily focus on the company’s most important clients and will be responsible for assisting senior management on strategy.

Sitohang, who will be based in Singapore in his new role, stated: "I believe that we have great potential in Asia Pacific and very strong momentum. Our comprehensive presence in the region, and leading positions in Private Banking & Wealth Management and Investment Banking, means that we can provide a truly focused service to our clients across Asia Pacific."

At the same time, Sitohang will continue to serve as head of the Investment Bank for Asia Pacific.
