Credit Suisse Group AG has hired Michael Tan from Bank of America to run its financial-institutions investment banking team in the Asia-Pacific region.

Tan will take up his new role Credit Suisse in December 2013 and will be based in Hong Kong. The Swiss bank’s investment banking division is run by Vikram Malhotra in the region.

Tan has joined Merrill Lynch in 2004, and was most recently managing director and head of Asia Pacific financial institutions in Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s investment banking division.

Previously, Nicolo Salsano was the regional co-head of Credit Suisse’s financial institutions group for two years, Salsano has recently been promoted to run the bank’s German and Austrian investment banking division, and moved to Frankfurt.

Senior bankers in Credit Suisse’s financial institutions group include Simon Yuan , who is head of the financial institutions group for China, and Danny Chung, a director who focuses on insurance and the Korean market.
