Kreis joined Credit Suisse in February 2007 as head of private banking for Asia Pacific and was appointed chairman for the division in 2012.
The current head of private banking for Asia Pacific Francesco de Ferrari, to whom Kreis reported, has been leading the regional business since January 2012.
Before assuming his present role in January 2012, he was CEO of Credit Suisse private banking in Italy. Prior to that, he was COO for private banking for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region in Zurich and country COO in Italy.
"In his five years leading our regional franchise, Marcel navigated one of the most challenging financial crises of our time, successfully growing our Private Banking business and advancing our market share," said a Credit Suisse internal memo issued in June.
