Swiss bank Credit Suisse has hired Joachim Oechslin from Munich Re as its new chief risk officer (CRO), effective 1 January 2014.
Oechslin, who is currently chief risk officer at Munich Re, replaces Tobias Guldimann, who becomes Credit Suisse’s head of reputational risk, corporate responsibility and regulatory policy.

Prior to Munich Re, Oechslin was deputy head of risk at AXA.
Commenting on the appointment, Urs Rohner, chairman of the board of directors of Credit Suisse, said the bank had a track record of very low credit losses under Guldimann’s leadership.
"The risk management function is of strategic importance for our industry and for Credit Suisse. We are very pleased that we have been able to ensure a smooth transition in the leadership of this critical function."
