As the country CEO, Stewart will lead the development of Credit Suisse across the private banking and wealth management, and investment banking divisions in Australia, in addition to overseeing and maintaining all local regulatory relationships.

Stewart succeeds David Livingstone, CEO of Australia since early 2010, who is returning to London to assume a senior client role with Credit Suisse.

Most recently, Steward was the co-head of the investment banking department and has 20 years of experience in Credit Suisse.

Stewart had joined Credit Suisse in 1990 in the New York office and had spent nine years as a banker in the US, including four years with Merrill Lynch, before returning to Australia in 1999 with Credit Suisse.
