Coutts, the private banking arm of RBS, has appointed Simon Hopes as market leader for its sports & entertainment business.

In his new role, Hopes will be responsible for the ongoing development and expansion of Coutts’ wealth management and private banking services for high net worth individuals in this space.

Based in London, Hopes will report to Harry Keogh, managing director of London One, which comprises the sports & entertainment, professionals, executives and landowners client groups.

Hopes is joining Coutts from NatWest and RBS Stockbrokers, where he served as head of distribution. In his previous role, Hopes was responsible for distribution within the retail stockbrokers business using a multi-channel approach which comprised branch staff, telephony and digital.

Commenting on the appointment, Keogh said: "Sports & Entertainment is one of Coutts’ most renowned client groups, and a continued area of focus for the business. Hopes’s understanding of the industry and the challenges and opportunities faced by HNW individuals will be key as continue our expansion in the UK."
