Mathias will be reporting to Fiona Davis, Finance Director for Retail, Wealth and Ulster within the Royal Bank of Scotland Group and to Rory Tapner, chief executive of Coutts.
Prior to joining Coutts, Mathias was the finance director of the corporate banking division at Lloyds Banking Group.

At Lloyds she has held a number of senior management roles and has worked with the Board level team of the Lloyds TSB Group, the Commercial Banking Executive and been a member of the Corporate Banking and Wholesale Finance Executive Committees.
After graduating from Kingston University, Mathias joined Lloyds in 1995 on the Lloyds TSB Finance graduate scheme and moved on to the position of head of credit risk and compliance, which she held for three years, for the Commercial Banking division of Lloyds TSB.
Describing the appointment of Mathias to the key role, Rory Tapner said: "We are delighted to have appointed someone of Jennifer’s calibre and experience to Coutts. I am confident that Jennifer will build a centre of excellence within the finance teams at Coutts and will work closely with colleagues at RBS Group Finance to ensure consistency and alignment within the function."
