City Financial has hired former Morningstar OBSR duo Peter Toogood and Gill Hutchison to lead the firm’s fund research as it looks to expand its multi-asset business.

Both will be working on City Financial’s investment team alongside the firm’s fund managers, with Toogood working as investment director and Hutchison as head of investment research.

They will join Mark Harris, head of multi-asset, who oversees City Financial’s six multi-asset funds and Tim Short, who recently joined the firm as chief risk officer.

Toogood and Hutchison are set to join City Financial on 1 October 1 2013 in research and consulting roles across the firm’s multi-asset, equity, fixed income and alternatives teams.

City Financial said the hires were the latest move in is development to provide a wide range of solutions for advisers and institutions.
Toogood was most recently investment services director at Morningstar OBSR, while Hutchinson was head of investment consultancy.

Prior to this, Toogood was chief investment officer at Forsyth Partners and formed Forsyth-OBSR in 2002, while Hutchison worked as a discretionary portfolio manager at two private banks.
