Citigroup has named Lee Lung Nien as new CEO for its wholly owned Malaysian subsidiary, Citibank Bhd, replacing Sanjeev Nanavati.

In his new role, Lung Nien will be responsible for Citi’s franchise in Malaysia, which includes institutional clients group, consumer banking, cards and wealth management businesses.

He will report to Michael Zink, Citi’s head of Asean.

Nien, who joined Citi as a credit analyst in London in 1990, has held a number of senior management roles across the firm, most recently as regional AML business head based in Malaysia.

He also served as chief operating officer for Citi Singapore in 2010, head of treasury for Citibank Bhd from 2001 to 2004.

He also worked Asean head of corporate sales and structuring before taking on the expanded role of co-head Asia corporate sales & structuring, and Singapore markets head.
