In his new role, Ahrens will work closely with UHNW clients, those with a net worth of at least US$25 million, in San Francisco and Silicon Valley and will report to Lisa Roberts, Northern California Region executive, Citi Private Bank.

Additionally, he will also work in coordination with other practice areas at the bank such as capital markets, managed investments and trust and estate planning.

Commenting on the new appointment, Lisa Roberts said, "He will play a key role in helping us continue to grow our franchise in Northern California and to reaching more ultra high net worth clients with the tailored investment advice and wealth planning solutions we provide."

Most recently, Ahrens was with JP Morgan in Palo Alto where he was a director in the Private Wealth Management group working with venture capital and investment banking clients.

And prior to that, he was a managing director and head of venture coverage at JP Morgan. He had previously spent eight years at Piper Jaffray & Co., and three years before that at Cowen & Co. as an investment banker.

Currently, Citi Private Bank has 26 offices in North America, 60 offices globally in 26 countries and oversees US$250 billion in AUM.
