Citi has hired Patrick Dewilde as markets and securities services head for Asia Pacific, subject to regulatory approval.

In his new role, Dewilde will be responsible for overseeing the bank’s regional foreign-exchange business, prime brokerage, custody services and fund administration.

He will serve as a member of the Asia Pacific operating committee, executive committee, and global markets management committee.

Dewilde will report to Stephen Bird, Asia Pacific CEO, as well as Paco Ybarra, global head of markets and securities services.

Dewilde, who joined Citi in 1983, most recently served as global head of local markets risk treasury and markets head for Southeast Africa, Turkey and Israel.

Commenting on the appointment, Bird said: "With his broad global experience, Dewilde is ideally suited to lead the strategic growth of our markets and securities services business in Asia Pacific.
