Doug MacDonald, head of institutional asset management at CIBC Asset Management said: "In today’s low yield environment, investors need their fixed income allocations to work harder for them more than ever before.

"The CIBC Core Plus Enhanced Alpha strategy addresses this challenge. Unique to the Canadian market, the strategy combines unconstrained alpha overlays with our established Core Plus approach.

"CIBC Core Plus Enhanced Alpha also seeks to exploit inefficiencies in the currency markets, which have been exacerbated by divergent monetary policies. This strategy delivers an additional source of alpha and diversification to a Core Plus fixed income portfolio."

The asset manager has also added new tools for liability-aware investors seeking active strategies managed against public benchmarks.

"The Pools provide clients with a de-risking option that maintains the transparency of public benchmarks, while delivering active management against a broader investment opportunity set."
