Canada-based CI Investments and its subsidiary Signature Global Asset Management have joined forces to launch a new research office in Hong Kong.

Dubbed as CI Global Investments Asia Limited, the office will be led by Gorlen Zhou, director of research, Asia.

The Hong Kong office has been designed to oversee Signature’s investment research in China and the rest of Asia.

The office, which will operate as a Hong Kong subsidiary of CI Investments, will provide macroeconomic analysis as well as generate specific investment ideas for the Signature portfolios.

Additionally, it will also act as a resource for other Signature portfolio managers and analysts during their regular visits to the region.

Signature’s CIO Eric Bushell said: "The equity and debt markets in Asia are maturing rapidly and will grow to match the region’s considerable influence in the global economy.

"The new office will play a vital role in building on our relationships in Asia, with both the companies we research and our partners in the financial services industry," Bushell added.

CI President Derek Green said: "The Hong Kong office will enhance Signature’s research and underlines CI’s commitment to the continued development of the expertise available at Signature and our other portfolio management teams."
