China Investment Corporation (CIC) has appointed Ding Xuedong as the new chairman of the company.
Prior to joining CIC, Xuedong was associated with the National Committee for Disaster Reduction as deputy director. In his entire career, he has also worked for China’s State Council as deputy secretary-general.

The academic profile of Xuedong includes a doctorate from the Fiscal Science Research Centre at the Ministry of Finance.
Xuedong was appointed on 5 July 2013 and fills the gap in top management made by the departure of Lou Jiwei, the former chairman of CIC, who had departed to pursue an alternate career.
China Investment Corporation is a sovereign wealth fund of the Government of China. The firm was established with the issuance of special bonds by the Ministry of Finance. It manages a part of the country’s foreign exchange reserves.
