The CII said it also satisfies the appropriate qualification requirements set by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) for investment operations staff.
The certificate includes an introduction to the financial services market and gives a practical insight into one of three areas of investment operations including collective investment scheme administration, individual savings account administration and investment client servicing.
The exam, being scheduled to start from September 2013 is also designed for advisers seeking an insight into the operational delivery of investment products and services.
Steve Jenkins, the CII’s director of financial services and insurance markets, said: "Today the FCA expects staff of all levels and across all functions to demonstrate that they have the necessary skills to perform effectively.
