Cazenove Capital Mangement’s (CCM) head of pan-European equities, Chris Rice, is leaving the firm in July 2013, after more than 10 years with the company.

The European equity manager is to exit the group in the wake of the takeover by Schroders, which boasts a sizeable European equities team itself.

The manager is leaving the firm to take a break and he has no immediate plans for his time after Cazenove.

Steve Cordell, manager of the Cazenove Pan Europe fund, who has over 19 years of investment experience will assume management responsibilities for Rice’s European Fund and European Equity (ex UK) funds with immediate effect.

James Sym will be lead manager of the Cazenove European Income fund which was previously managed by Rice.

Director and Fund Manager at Cazenove Capital, Julie Dean, will head up the business cycle team which comprises of Matt Hudson, David Docherty, along with Cordell and Sym and a range of analysts.

Schroder’s current head of equities management, Chris Taylor will become Head of Equities Investment Operations to support the CCM team to ensure that operational requirements are managed separately and do not impact fund management activities.

Rice’s fund has returned 43.4% versus the sector average return of 41.2% over the last year.
