McNeill and Rilley have joined Butterfield Private Bank from Vintage Asset Management and Prospect Wealth Management respectively.

The hires match with Butterfield’s strategy of returning to core principles and follow the private bank’s decision to better align its research and portfolio management functions under Paul O’Neill as head of UK asset management.

Richard Saunders, head of European asset management, said: "Investing in expertise across our business is of great importance as we bring together our European teams and adopt a more streamlined approach to developing our products and services. Further augmenting this strength in depth across the group is to the ultimate benefit of our clients."

Paul O’Neill said: "Strengthening and expanding our asset management business through on the job training and recruitment of experienced investment advisors is a key pillar of our strategy as we take our European business model forward."
