Bank of America Merrill Lynch has promoted two of its senior investment bankers- Karim Assef and Diego De Giorgi- in the role of co-heads of global investment banking.
Assef will be based in New York while De Giorgi will continue to be based in London. The duo will report to head of global corporate and investment banking Christian Meissner.

Referring to the appointments in an internal memo, Meissner said, "In this capacity, Karim and Diego will partner closely with me on the execution of our global strategy to propel the growth and quality of our Investment Banking business by deepening client relationships, enhancing coverage efforts and strengthening collaboration and partnerships across the firm."
Earlier, Assef served as the global head of investment banking coverage, while De Giorgi previously held the role of co-head of global corporate and investment banking for Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), along with Bob Elfring.
Elfring will now serve as the sole head of global corporate and investment banking for EMEA, and will continue to report to Meissner and EMEA president Alex Wilmot-Sitwell.
