Spokesman Ron Gruendl said BNY Mellon is closing the office because more clients are conducting their banking business electronically these days.

"We have seen client traffic to this office decrease as more clients rely on mobile and online services to execute their banking transactions," Gruendl said.

Gruendl said the bank, which operates about 30 other wealth management offices around the country, has no plans to close the other remaining office Downtown in BNY Mellon Center. Previously, BNY Mellon has operated nine offices in this region.

The three workers at the Ligonier office will lose their jobs but may apply for other positions at the bank, said Gruendl.
