In the newly created role, he will be responsible for researching investment trends, market activity and economics in APAC.

Schulte will be based in Hong Kong and will report into both Alan Harden, chief executive officer for BNY Mellon’s Asia-Pacific investment management business and Jack Malvey, chief global market strategist for investment management, located in New York.

Further, he will focus on developing an APAC investment and market knowledge platform that will help capture and communicate the APAC investment opinion and analysis from across the firm’s investment management boutiques, and support the firm’s global thinking.

He joins BNY Mellon’s APAC Investment Management Executive Committee and BNY Mellon’s APAC Operating Committee.

Most recently, Schulte was the global head of financial strategy at China Construction Bank International Securities. He was one of the first westerners to be hired by a Chinese bank for research.

And from 2007 to 2010, he was the managing director and head of multi-strategy and Asia Banks’ research for Lehman Brothers and then at Nomura International.
