He will report to BNP Paribas Securities Services CEO Patrick Colle. Before his stint at BNP Paribas Securities Services, which started last year, Placido held the role of CEO of RBC Investor Services and RBC Dexia Investor Services.
Placido will replace Henri Foch, who is set to retire at June end. Foch began his career at BNP in 1983, and served in various roles such as deputy global head of fixed income and head of EMEA for fixed income from 2011 to 2015.
CIB global head Yann Gérardin said: "José will play a key role in continuing to develop close and long-term relationships between BNP Paribas and financial institutions.
"His appointment reflects our ambition to focus on the needs of institutional clients, providing them with a comprehensive range of solutions to grow their business and adapt to changes in the global financial markets. This was one of the key reasons for aligning Securities Services within CIB last year and today’s announcement reinforces this strategy."
