John Westwood, founder and group managing director of Blacktower, said that the office is expected to open in September. The new Malta office will be located near St Julian’s Bay, which is located near Sliema.

Blacktower has appointed Jan Bjorkmann, who until recently has been the firm’s Gibraltar-based director for Scandinavian clients, to lead the Malta office as country manager.

Westwood added: "Bjorkmann has already spent "some months" working on the business plan for the office and getting it set up. Bjorkmann is planning to look after clients not only in Malta, but throughout the region."

Bjorkmann has been with Blacktower since 2005, and prior to this, worked in investment banking in Switzerland and the UK.
