BlackRock has named Helen Zhu as new managing director and head of its China equities business effective April 7.
In his new role, Zhu will report to Andrew Swan, head of Asian equities.

Zhu will start managing funds later this year subject to regulatory approvals.
Prior to joining BlackRock, Zhu has worked at Goldman Sachs for eight years, most recently serving as managing director, chief China equity strategist. Previously, he has also worked in the global investment research division of Goldman Sachs as Asia business unit leader for the telecoms and internet sectors, covering China and regional telecoms stocks.
Earlier to this, Zhu worked at ABN AMRO as a telecommunications industry analyst for five years and also at Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette in investment banking in New York and Hong Kong.
