The UK business has now expanded into the international private banking business and will be headed by Alexis Chardigny.

Chardigny joined Berenberg from Morgan Stanley in July this year and will report to Dr Peter Raskin, the head of the International private banking division of Berenberg.

As part of the changes, the UK clients division will be headed by Richard Brass, who joined the bank from Schroders Private Banking soon after the London office was established by Elder and Hervey.

Hervey, who remains at the bank after the sudden departure of Elder, will now head the investments, operations and compliance division as a part of the re-organisation of the London office.
