German private bank Berenberg has appointed Manfred Schlumberger as its new chief investment officer (CIO), effective 1 January 2016.
In the new role, he will be responsible for leading investment strategy as well as private asset management services.

Schlumberger will join Berenberg from BHF-Bank. He has been serving as a managing director at BHF Trust Management Gesellschaft für Vermögensverwaltung since 2001, tasked with managing conventional and individual asset management services.
Berenberg Managing Partners spokesman Hans-Walter Peters said: "The asset management services headed up by Dr Schlumberger has constantly ranked among the top performers for more than a decade.
